THE SILK TRESS HAIR STRAIGHTENER - BACKGROUND

THE SILK TRESS HAIR STRAIGHTENER

The Background Story

Getting that silk press look at home isn’t easy, especially if you have Afro or very curly/ kinky hair. Firstly, to achieve that super straight salon look, it’s a 2-hand process- running the straightener through a section of the hair whilst with your other hand you follow through with a comb to get it as straight as possible… If you have type 3 or type 4 hair, this process is fraught with issues- the comb slips, the comb gets tangled, you’ll likely find yourself having to remove the comb and the straightener from that section and start over…. Sometimes, strands slip from the iron and again, you need to start the process over… you’ll probably need to run the process 3-4 times through one section of the hair to get it done.

Then to the next…

I have type 4C porous hair which is about 14-16 inches long (I need a trim!) and straightening my hair is a true test of coordination and patience! And regular straighteners simply do not get the job done.

So, I found myself wondering if I could buy a hair straightener with the comb built in. And long story short, since I couldn’t find one, I decided to build one. And I wanted to build something beautiful, something I’d be proud to use on my hair. Something that I could run through a section once and be done with it- onto the next, completing my head of hair in 40 minutes or less. Something of the highest quality, because hair in African culture is important. Something that would give you complete control over your hair. And something that took care of your hair. I wanted to build a brand around this and so not only was the Silk Tress Straightener born, but as if grown from the roots of African, so was Noma Sana.

I created something that I needed for my extremely tightly curled 4C hair type. And it works. I hope you find that it works for your hair too.

Thank you for joining me on my journey to love the process of doing my hair.

Stay amazing!
